If you’ve spoken to me recently then you know that I absolutely love Chiang Mai.  It’s hands down my favorite spot thus far.  It’s one of Thailand’s largest cities but somehow seems to keep a small town feel.  It’s beautifully situated amongst the highest mountains in Thailand.   With lots of lush forest all around, its beautiful and green with exotic flowers and flora I’ve never seen before.  You can escape to the mountains to explore the forest or you can chill out in the old city in a cute coffee shop or restaurant and eat traditional Thai food.

The temples all over Thailand, and I mean ALL OVER, are so incredibly beautiful.  I have genuinely never seen anything like them.  They have so much detail, every last inch of them is decorated with color and murals of art.  The Buddha’s covered in gold with flowers given up as offering are a breathtaking sight.  The temples are quiet, serene and very calming.  They are designed to inspire inner and outer peace symbolizing five elements: fire, air, earth, water and wisdom.  Monks can be spotted in every corner in their traditional saffron colored robes. Every morning the monks walk the streets collecting food offered up from the people.  Monks only eat once a day in the morning and do not live a life of luxury.

There are over 300 Temples in Chiang Mai alone.  After seeing a few of them, they start to all look the same.  With that being said I still seem to want to stop at every one and take more pictures!   They are just so beautiful!  You simply can’t come to Chiang Mai and not visit the temples because they are such a key part of the culture. I think I probably have 1,000 pictures of just temples.
